First Day Sales: Sora no Kiseki & Infinite Loop

Eiyuu Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki The 3rd

Eiyuu Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki The 3rd (or The Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki The 3rd) made a promising starts yesterday with around 20,000 copies sold according to retailer blog Sinobi. And it looks good to become another series that’s getting better with every release on the PSP. Its predecessors, Eiyuu Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki FC made 14,000 while Eiyuu Densetsu: Sora no Kiseki SC got 25,000 on their first week (Enterbrain’s data). Last week, it was Gundam Battle Universe who outdid its predecessor with an impressive 138,000 first week sales. However, another PSP new release, NIS adventure game Infinite Loop: Kojyou Ga Miseta Yume, made a poor start of only 2,000 copies.

The usually reliable Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu series is the best selling new game of the day but the combined figures of 65,000 (50,000 on PS2 and 15,000 on Wii) seems low if compared to its last game, which started with 100,000 combine sales. The PSP version of the game, Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball Portable 3, start with more than 110,000 back in May, prompting Sinobi to say that perhaps the series’ fans are shifting to PSP.

Another notable release yesterday is the disc version of PS3’s Siren: New Translation, which sold around 20,000 copies on its first day. Finally, Nintendo’s fun looking Wario Land Shake starts with 10,000 copies.

Macross Ace Frontier Gets Date And Replay Function

Macross Ace Frontier

Game Watch’s latest report on Artdink’s next mech action game, Macross Ace Frontier, reveals a couple of new features, more participating characters and plenty of great looking screens. Players can record their missions, including those in the multiplayer, and view it later through the “Replay Function”. Another feature being revealed is the “ID Card”, which allows players to check out their multiplayer partners’ record in the game. A release date has been set as well, and it’s October 9th in Japan. The game is certainly looking great and we’ll know soon enough if it can outperforms Gundam Battle Universe, also from Artdink, which got a great start last week.

The New Characters of Tales of The World 2

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2

Here are more screens for Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 from Game Watch and Dengeki Online, which actually appeared in the Weekly Famitsu earlier. Knowing Namco, it will probably be months before we can get new info on the title again, so here are the screens with some extra information I miss out in the earlier post.

Japan Weekly Software Ranking (July 14 - July 20)

Dragon Quest V: Tenkuu No Hanayome made a monstrous start in Japan with more than 640,000 copies sold on its first week, making Gundam Battle Universe (GBU) otherwise impressive start of 138,000 looks pale in comparison. GBU’s first week figure also improved greatly from its predecessor, Gundam Battle Chronicle, which opened with 90,000. The other debutant is Aquaplus great looking strategy game Tears to Tiara: Kakan no Daichi for the PS3, which sold 34,000 copies.

The Metallic Blue PSP packs were also released last week and together with GBU, they gave PSP a hefty boost of 76,000 units according to early figure from Sinobi, just enough to fight off the spike that NDS received with Dragon Quest V. Interestingly, the various colors of PSP are also back at the Amazon Japan chart as well, probably in anticipation of Phantasy Star Portable’s July 31st release in the country.

Patapon 2 Content Doubled, Will Be Friendlier

Patapon 2

I found Patapon to be extremely hard at time, remember the Desert Crossing stage? Phew… it prompted Sony to explain the level in their official blog and took me hours to figure things out. Good that in the Weekly Famitsu interview on Patapon 2, which has been put online today, designer Hiroyuki Kotani acknowledge that some parts of the game are challenging and players have complained it to him. In Patapon 2, which is still a working title, the developers will introduce some buffers for mistimed beats so that players will be warned when they start to make mistakes. More from the interview after the jump.

Dungeon Maker 2 Coming To US?

Chronicle of Dungeon Maker II

Found this from IGN’s “most accurate PSP release list in the Multiverse”, Global A’s Chronicle of Dungeon Maker II appears to be coming to US as Dungeon Maker 2 with UFO Interactive the publisher. GameFly also listed the game as a Nov 14 release, a few days different from IGN’s date. The RPG with dungeon creation elements is a game I always wanted to check out, even more so after Weekly Famitsu award the game a cool 34 (out of 40) in their reviews (although the game did rather poorly in Japan). Hope this also means that we might see Global A’s newest original RPG for PSP, Tyuumon Siyouze! Oretachi no Sekai will come in English too, the game looks amazing.
