Nekooto 8 Star Quests

蛇竜だらけ！

Time to grab some useful materials from Gaburasu (ガブラス), the floating bat-like creatures that spit poison. It’s probably better to deal with the Dosui-osu (ドスイーオス) first so you don’t have to worry about something jumping at you while being surrounded by five noisy birds. I think the best weapon in this situation is sword and shield as lots of running is required.

地底湖から覗く目

Ganototos (ガノトトス) in the old desert, head straight to area 5 as the monster will only station there. The area is cold so bring more hot drinks instead to keep your stamina steady. Standard Ganototos tactics apply here but it spots a new potentially deadly attack in MHP 2ndG. The monster can now make water attack on the ground as well, just watch out when it suddenly stand straight.

翠色の津波

This is certainly one of the most frustrating quest in the game. A powered up version of Ganototos is tough enough but two of them in the dense forest of the old jungle really test my patience. To make things worst, they often move in pair and this is extremely frustrating in the smaller area 3. Camera issues are the most obvious in quest like this and I ended up fighting with the camera more than the monsters, who have a few killer moves that will send you straight to home.

After countless unsuccessful attempts with great sword, I switched to bowgun, avoid area 3 at all and fighting from the higher ground of area 7. The monsters appear to have lower health here, so it won’t take forever with bowgun here, just make sure you load yourself with the best possible arrows.

To be able to fight them from the higher ground at area 7, you’ll need to first draw them out of water, which they are quite willing to in this quest or you can throw some sonic bombs to scared them out. The higher ground can protect you from most of Ganototos’ attacks though you still need to be careful with the water attacks. It’s just aim-shoot-reload from the very beginning and it can get really dull, one of the reasons I don’t use bows for quests.
