Village 6 Star Quests
緊急事態発生!

The ticket to G-Rank quest is fittingly tough, you up against a towering giant crab by the name of シェンガオレン (Syengaoren, image above is not from the quest itself, via Navy Square). The map is the ghostly street and the only consolation is apart from the random bombs, there is no other creatures in sight.
Okay, this is how I did it. A Great Sword with 768 raw damage and 420 fire elemental damage. A weapon with high dragon elemental damage will be great but I just don’t have it so I had to settle with this. My armor set is one that’s quake proof (耐震) and I eaten a meal from the kitchen that lengthen my health bar and increase attacking damage.
The items to bring, well there are quite a lot of them. Health recovery stuff, power pill (怪力の丸薬) to boost your damage further and plenty of bombs or the items that make them. Area 1 of the map has plenty of bombs, max potion (秘薬), ballista bombs (バリスタの弾) and big bomb (大砲の弾). These are good if you have slots left in your item pouch, if not, just carry a big bomb and head to area 3. Also make sure you’ve eaten enough food to extend your stamina bar to the max as you will be really busy later.
There are two bomb launcher right in front of you once you enter area 3, carry your bomb to one of them and wait till Syengaoren is in the launcher’s path. Press the circle button and it should hit one of its legs. I didn’t go back and carry more bombs as I think its time wasting and tedious, so I just go down and start hacking.
I concentrate on one leg at a time, it’s hard at first because it constantly moving but when the monster is about to launch it’s attack at the fotress’ door, it will stand still for quite some time. Try to get at least two charged attack here (press and hold the triangle button when holding the weapon), a few more hack and slash and its leg will turn light red. More charging and hacking it will turn really red, get that on all four legs as quickly as possible. The monster will stumble probably twice during this time, giving you much needed time.
The best time to bomb is when it stumbles, but that won’t happen too many times, so another chance is when the monster lower itself closer to ground and will stop for at least three seconds. Get your biggest bombs in there and run! Once that is done, make sure you also get a few hits on its head. Don’t forget the spike attack, that itself will deal lots of damages when you get the timing right. The “button” to activate it is near the bomb launcher and the best time is when the monster is right in front of it, preparing to launch its own attack at the wall.
Besides the smaller stumbles, Syengaoren will take a huge stumble during this time and that’s a great sign of mission nearing accomplish. More bombs or charged attack at the head during this time. It’s leg will return to normal after this, but getting it red again is faster this time. Time are almost up for Syengaoren and if you see all these with the fortress still having 10% or 20% left, then you’re set to get past this.
最後の招待状

This being called the “Final Invite” will obviously be one of the ultimate test for any hunter. It took me dozens of tries just to get it done, mostly because I was carrying an extremely underpowered weapon and armors that are more towards attacking than protecting. This quest to kill two Rajan (or Rajang, ラージャン) won’t appear until you clear everything from the Village Elder and there are already many well made guides for this on the Internet, but here’s how I got them.
My set up was a Large Sword with armors that boost attack, extend my health and speed up whetstone usage. Pretty suicidal if you ask any good hunter out there though it’s possible that people have been able to clear this with worst set-up.
On the items that I brought, all the health items and food, whetstones, bombs, traps (both stun and pitfall will do here), capture bomb and flash bombs. Some power juices (強走薬) will help tremendously here as well, there are countless running and rollings to be done here. The Farcaster (モドリ玉) is a perfect exit plan as you won’t be able to get out of the arena once you’re in, the item will teleport you back instantly, either to recover yourself on the bed or pick up more items. Finally, I never go to any big quest without the power (怪力の種) and armor (忍耐の種) seeds.

The monster is extremely (and unfairly) agile, it recovers from its attack within one or two second before it launches the next. To make things worst, the next, much larger version, of the same monster will arrive after 10 minutes. So if you can’t beat the first one within that time, you are up against two extremely tough beast and your survival now depends largely on pure luck. If you do bring an Otomo Ailu to the quest, it’s useful as a diversion to the monsters but obviously it can be a huge liability as well sometimes. To make it quick against the first one, I just used all the traps (the monster can cancel out pitfall trap quite easily though) and flash bombs I have to gain some free hits. When I’m running out of helps, it’s just hack and slash from then on.

Great sword requires the hunter to stand extremely close to the monster and in this case, an extremely hungry monster. So picking the right moment to hit is extremely crucial. There are two such good moments, one is when Rajan do its slam attack and another when its shooting those blinding rays. Try to do some charge attack (press and hold the triangle button) to speed things up. There are not that many tips for great sword beside those but patience is really important in order to save your health items and avoid failing the quest altogether. There should be plenty of time left once the first one is beaten, so do take your time with the second.
巨大龍の侵攻

If you have only played the single player quests so far, this will be your first encounter with Lao Shan Lung (ラオシャンロン), the biggest monster in any Monster Hunter game. I have a detailed strategy against it in the Guild Hall and it applies to this quest as well.
