At Long Last, Phantasy Star Portable Announced
Sega announced to the latest of issue Weekly Famitsu of a new game based on their famed Phantasy Star series, and it’s called Phantasy Star Portable. Alfa System (developers behind the impressive looking Tales of Innocence for DS) is working on the long rumored title.
PSP… the game, will be based on the latest game in the series, Phantasy Star Universe, and its expansion, Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus with new missions and story. Obviously, the ad hoc mode will be utilized for 4-player communication play. The game is scheduled to come out in Japan some time next year.
Though different in theme, it will be interesting to see how the game will match up with Capcom’s successful Monster Hunter Portable series as both feature the same mechanics of players fighting monsters, upgrade their weapons and gain levels. This is a great news regardless, PSP’s (the system…) strong performance recently certainly got more developers making games on our favorite system.
Check out the magazine at Ruliweb, expect more information and a website in the next few days.
