PSP is at the center of a special media event by Sony a little while ago. Plenty of announcements, the biggest of them (to me at least) is Dissidia Final Fantasy release date, which is being set at December 18th. The game itself will cost 6,090 Yen ($56) while the almost impossible to get bundle with a special PSP-3000 will set you back 25,890 Yen ($238, same as Crisis Core: Final Fantasy special pack).

Dissidia isn’t the only game to get a special PSP bundle though, the just announced Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam Vs Gundam and Patapon 2 Donchaka♪ (note the new subtitle) will also get their own bundles for 24,840 Yen ($229) and 23,800 Yen ($219) respectively. Both games also received their release dates, with Gundam Vs Gundam starting the 2 Vs 2 fight on December 20th and Patapon a week later. It’s going to be one crazy year end for us.

On to the PSP-3000 itself, there will be no fancy color for now as the same trio of colors announced for the US and Europe (Piano Black, Pearl White, Mystic Silver) will be the launch colors for Japan as well. Although the press release does says additional colors are being planned. The “PSP Value Pack” that will come with the PSP-3000 also include a 4Gb memory stick and will go for 24,800 Yen ($229).

A couple of surprise features were added to our systems as well. We can finally connect to the PlayStation Store directly to download PSP-enabled content and also interestingly, PSP games that support ad hoc mode can also be played over the Internet through PS3. Great feature if you own a PS3 and instantly made dozens of PSP games Infrastructure enabled and obviously, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G was being mentioned as the title that will support this. Both are currently Japan-only and will be ready this fall. Pictures and details should come in later.
