DKΣ3713: Dissidia Gets New Characters, Potion & Bundle

Dissidia Final Fantasy

Arguably the next most anticipated PSP game in Japan, Dissidia Final Fantasy received some sort of special treatments at the DKΣ3713 Private Party 2008. Not only it has the most number of new information revealed, it also has the most demo kiosks which still attracted big crowd.

The most important piece of info is probably the most predictable one as Square finally reveals a slightly more solid release date of December for the game, which was supposed to come out last year to celebrate Final Fantasy’s 20th anniversary. A special PSP bundle is being announced and I’m pretty sure it will be a custom designed PSP and very pricey to import, like what happened to Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII last year. Like the release of Crisis Core again, there will be a “Dissidia Final Fantasy Potion”. Two sample cans (pictures after the jump) with the face of Warrior of Light and Firion were on display but the release date and its price is still unknown.

Dissidia Final Fantasy

Back to the game itself, three new characters were introduced at once, bringing the total number of characters revealed so far to 16 (Tetsuya Nomura said 20 is the final head count). Golbez (FFIV), Exdeath (FFV) and Kefka (FFVI) will join the Chaos camp in their quest to take-over/destroy the universe. The remaining four characters will be from the Cosmos camp and Square is obviously not going to miss the chance to tease us with their candidates.

According to IGN, who check out the latest demo, characters growth will be based on a board game style system where players can pick their path and next opponents in the single player campaign. Most of the stuff in the demo were revealed in previous magazine reports, but do check out IGN’s detailed hands-on with the game for a refresher.

Update: Do check out 1UP’s hands-on as well which says no one is confirmed from FFIV and FFV yet.

Update 2: GameSpot hands-on.

So, Is this site or 1up actually right?

And why the hell do Square Enix keep on showing the trailers to closed audiences?

It could be Square’s marketing strategy..
Or else, they might really take care of Japanese gamers…
Sure they are pampered a lot..

Is Cloud going to appear in Dissidia? You can’t have Sephiroth without Cloud that would not make any sence in a game that has the hero and rival of most Final Fantasy games.

Yeah your probably right. Can you tell me where I can find all of the character art for this game? I’m a big fan of Tetsuya Nomura’s artwork.
