Final Fantasy Tactics Confirmed for PSP

Final Fantasy TacticsThere seems to be no stop to Square Enix’s surprises as a few magazine scans confirmed the rumored Final Fantasy Tactics PSP remake. Although details are still scarce, the news alone will surely make PSP fans rejoice as a slew of quality games are slowly coming their ways. The game will also populate PSP’s SRPG library with three quality titles, Jeanne d’Arc and Disgaea Hour of Darkness Portable being the other two.

Back to the news itself, the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump not only confirmed Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou (or Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War) but also some early details of the new additions to the 1997 PS game. Among them, a new job class called Onion Knight (taken from Final Fantasy III) is added and as customary to Square Enix’s practices on remakes, slick visuals in cut scenes, which in FFT’s case, is cell shaded.

Another title, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2: Fuuketsu no Guurimore, although not confirmed for any platform, was announced as well. This appeared to be a sequel to GBA’s Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (2003) was only mentioned as an upcoming title in the magazine and has no further details.

The two, together with the recently announced Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings for the DS and the top selling Final Fantasy XII will form a project named Ivalice Alliance. Final Fantasy XII itself is being designed by Final Fantasy Tactics designer Yasumi Matsuno and Japanese gaming magazines has long investigate the possible relation between the two and Vagrant Story (PlayStation, 2000).
