God Eater Screens Galore

Hunt or be hunted, that’s how Famitsu opens their intro of God Eater in their exclusive scoop a couple of weeks ago, which is almost the exact same tagline Capcom has used before for Monster Hunter Portable series. Not sure if similarities such as this are a good thing or not but I feel they kind of overshadow the many interesting concepts that are unique to God Eater. Tons of screens, including cool concept arts, from the game got released to Japanese medias recently and time to see if the game has enough original stuff to put down MHP 2ndG temporary or not.

Bandai Namco assembles a very interesting group of staff for the game. Its producer is Shinichiro Okamoto, whose previous works include Xenosaga, Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Hearts; the developers are Shift, who have made several Ape Escape games for PSP; Go Shiina composed musics for Tales of series and iDOLM@STER before; character designer Sogabe Shuji is the guy behind the Persona manga; and last but not least famous graphic designers PowerGraphixx drawn the logo and visual arts.
Deus Ex Machina
The weapon system, called Deus Ex Machina, is obviously the centerpiece of the game. It refers to the three different forms any of the weapons can have and players can switch between them freely with one click of a button. The three are as follow:
Weapon System: Blade Form

Blade Form includes both Bastard Blade for powerful attack and Short Blade for quick successive attack. See it in action from the screens below.
Weapon System: Gun Form

Gun Form include Assault and Sniper, the bullets used can have fire elemental attached to them.
Weapon System: Predator Form

Predator Form copies the power of Aragami for a short period of time, during which the system will enter into Burst Mode. Players get more powerful attack and can recover their health during this mode. They can even pass this power to another player so he can activate Ultimate Ougi for some spectacular damages.
Aragami
Mysterious creatures that suddenly appears in the world and will eat everything in sights. The only weapons that can be used to fight against them are Shinki (God Weapon), which are ironically made from the cells of these creatures. Aragami also like to attack in group, which is why multiplayer is needed. Players seem to be able to make certain sounds to synchronize their attacks, helping those under-attack and exchange special abilities of Aragami defeated.
Aragami: Vasura
A giant tiger-looking creature which is capable of launching some deadly lightning strikes from the cape on its back.
Aragami: Sariel
Also called “Dead Angel”, those beams from the giant eye above her head can inflict massive damage.
Aragami: Borg Kamuran
A giant scorpion with deadly tail attack. Already looking impenetrable with those steel-looking skins, it also has shields to protect itself. Players will need to look for its weak spot.
Demo Scene

God Eater features a Story Mode for single player too. Players have to co-operate with the five other NPCs in order to make progress in the story.
