Hyperland Weekly (Jan 26)

The blog is back, with a slightly adjusted name, thanks to suggestions by PSPHyper resident reviewer and great RPG fans, Victor. On the other hand, the server transition last week hasn’t been that smooth, so some of you probably were sent to the old pages from the previous server, sorry about that. But the updates will be back in full swing starting next week as we look forward to the great PSP line-up in February and March.
Now Playing
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions still getting plenty of play time here in Hyperland, around 40 hours in. I’m a little lost in the complex political story now. Hopefully I can get to the end this week and start Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida. As the picture above shown, I had been playing PixelJunk Monsters demo on the PSP via the Remote Play as well, the feature is a magic, however the game is a little blurry once on the PSP. But it’s a good game, just a little too slow for my liking, should be fun for the towers protecting lovers.
On the PS3 side, I’m still racing in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, something makes me keep playing this game. It’s not just the graphics anymore, although I still discovering some of the sights, but with only five tracks, there isn’t really much to look at. While the game let you proceed to the next Class even if you win the easily achievable bronze medals, I almost never stop at bronze, the will to keep shaving a second off from my best lap is so strong. I can’t imagine how much time I need to invest in the full Gran Turismo 5 when it’s released later this year. The record so far:
Class A: 2 Gold, 2 Bronze
Class B: 5 Gold, 3 Silver
Class C: 6 Gold, 2 Silver
Strong Sales
Two major PSP release this week are Winning Eleven: Ubiquitos Evolution 2008 and Yggdra Union: We’ll Never Fight Alone, it looks likely that both are going to feature in the ranking next week. According to trusty game retailer Sinobi, first day sales for both are 35,000 and 15,000 respectively, pretty good for a multi-platform title and a GBA port. PSP sales has been nothing less than spectacular for the past few months, it will interesting to see how close it will be to NDS’s number next week (last week was around 9,000 according to Media Create).
Although there won’t be any PSP game release next week, there is a big clash on the consoles front as PS3’s Devil May Cry 4 and Disgaea 3 will have to face Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, the outcome is a forgone conclusion with Brawl likely to produce a huge lead at the top of the chart, but it will be interesting if the two (plus Assassin’s Creed and Juiced 2) will gives the PS3 any major hardware boost.
