Impressive Start For Super Robot Wars A

As expected, Super Robot Wars A Portable make a strong start in Japan with more than 53,000 copies sold on the first day. This is an improvement of 12,000 over Super Robot Taisen MX Portable on a larger PSP install base according to retailer blog Sinobi, who also report that Japanese gamers bought 50% of the initial shipment. The game is the best selling new releases of the week, Super Mario Stadium: Family Baseball sold 27,000 copies while Koei’s adventure game Harukanaru Jikuu no Kade 4 sold 26,000 (Wii and PS2 combined), though it probably isn’t enough to knock Metal Gear Solid 4 from the top spot.
Weekly Famitsu gave Super Robot Wars A Portable a respectable 8,7,7,8 (or 30/40) with the major praise being the newly added systems, upgraded audio visuals, beautiful battle animation and the tweaks to make the game more accessible. The common complaints being the slightly longer loading time, although one reviewer said its better than Super Robot Taisen MX Portable.
