Japan Weekly Software Ranking (Aug 11 - Aug 17)
Rhythm Tengoku Gold swap places with Phantasy Star Portable to claim top spot in the latest Japanese charts as music games seem to be the most popular type of game this summer in Japan. Phantasy Star Portable, which will receive its second downloadable content this week, cross the 500,000 mark with another 74,000 copies sold last week according to Media Create. Four other PSP games are in the charts with Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G marching ever closer to 2.5 million.
On the hardware front, early Famitsu figures show that the DS is ahead of PSP again with 88,000 units sold. Although PSP’s number of 71,000 is pretty impressive as well.
