Last Ranker: Gangsters & “Ranking Director” Introduced

Last RankerGiven that Zig, the main character of Last Ranker, is ranked somewhere around 95,000 at the start of the game, there are plenty of opponents he has to take down before reaching the highest rank, so expect to see plenty of character intros in upcoming news of the RPG (my previous report here). The latest Weekly Famitsu report (no 480×270 screens yet unfortunately but the official website has been updated with these info) showed three more characters designed by Tatsuya Yoshikawa (Breath of Fire and Devil May Cry 4) and shared some info on how you rank up in the game.

Character: Tylong & Rid

Last RankerThe head of the notorious Tylong family is currently ranked 8th and “rent” a big chunk of land in the country. According to Famitsu, Zig is being forced by Tylong to become his newest assistant. However, probably to test Zig’s royalty, one of Tylong’s orders is for Zig to do something in his homeland… Tylong’s right hand man is Rid who is said to be a nice fella but does not allow anyone to overwrite his orders.

Character: Makis

Last RankerThis suspicious looking character claimed he is “The Ranking Director” and willingly provide Zig’s with free info after knowing his intention of becoming the top ranked fighter. At this point, it’s not hard to see that our hero is willing to work with anyone, even his potential enemies, who will help him get to the top spot.

Ghandoor

The capital city will be your base with facilities like weapon shops (where the owners also a high ranking fighters) and also a Mission Board for players to receive missions. Completing these missions is one of the ways to rank up in the game although there are always people who will try to stop you. You won’t be fighting human characters all the time though as some of the missions require you to fight things like the “raging bull” shown in the Famitsu mag.

Last RankerLooking at the screen on the left, where Tylong say “You’re late” to Zig, it looks like there will be promising story heading our way :) Last Ranker still doesn’t has an actual release date in Japan but will be shown at this week’s Jump Festa ‘10.
