Media Install To Reduce MHP 2ndG Load Time

Capcom held a completion announcement for Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (MHP 2ndG) earlier today in Tokyo and several announcements were made on the best selling series. Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said the game MHP 2ndG expanded upon, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd (MHP 2nd), has sold 1.7 million in Japan so far and introduces two new major features of MHP 2ndG.
Update: GameSpot Japan has videos of the event. Part 1 & Part 2.
Update 2: Media Install is optional, can be used with BG Load activated, and it requires at least 580Mb of disk space.

“Media Install” seems to be the best solution for the long load time of the game so far. Through the feature, part of the installation data can now be saved into the memory stick, so we don’t have to stare at the nice loading screen too long now. Not sure how big is the data file or if it is mandatory install. While MHP 2nd do has “BG Load” which does the same thing, I personally didn’t bother to activate it because it drains the battery life, so this is a great alternative.
One of the most talk about features is the new Otomo Ailu (or what I called Ailu Companion), where hunters can take with them an Ailu while doing offline quests. It was revealed that we can transfer the little AI cat to another player through “Otomo Transfer”, available as part of the menu when in the kitchen. More details on this when I have it.
Other announcements include the new season of Monster Hunter Festa where MHP fans meet up to decide who is the best hunter, a Monster Hunter manga, mobile phones content, the third set of Monster Hunter Trading Cards and the TV commercials of MHP 2nd G.
