MGS PO: Portable Blog #02

I think Kojima is really brave in introducing the recruitment system and making it such a crucial part of the gameplay. Just think about the initial meetings when the decision was made to decide the direction that the game will take on. However, even most MGS die hards will probably agreed that it turned out great, and glad that Kojima didn’t resort to just recycle what’s in the previous MGS series. As is expected of titles developed for the PSP so far.
Recruitment isn’t as easy as killing them though, these soldiers need to be beaten unconscious, drag to a truck (that often is so far away) and be persuaded by Roy Campbell. The system provides a great help in that you can drag the fella to your partner hidden in the closest card box. The only gripe, if that can be consider one, is that you are bound to loose your closest help as he will have to send the fainted enemy to Campbell’s truck. However, a little planning will sort that out.
Back to my missions so far, I was sent to a research lab to look for some Malaria cure, however returned empty handed again. Although this is quite an interesting level, meeting a nice girl named Elisa in the process, who finally revealed the true location of the cure.
It is here that the inexperience gamer in me struck a bottle neck again. This time confused by the game menu which I think will be too embarrassing to be revealed here. Anyway, I was taught to deploy a spying squad and after a few embarrassing hiccups, I manage to send them out and get some useful information. I got over excited and put a spy in every location, and now a few side quests pop up and the completionist in me means that it will take forever to complete this game.
