MGS PO: Portable Blog #04

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops: Portable Blog

The next missions involve blowing up trucks at four locations, and if I can resist myself from recruiting every enemy in sight, then there is no stopping me from completing the missions faster than the time Snake takes to drag an enemy to his truck.

While the tasks may sound straighforward, I manage to make a mess of each and everyone of the four diversionary operations. In the supply depot, probably the easiest of the four, and despite claiming myself of reading the manual, I have troubles planting the TNT. On to the Research Lab, as a result of failing to spot a guard on a patrol post, another few restarts were required.

In the Soviet Patrol Base, I have to make several restarts as I wanted to recruit the two enemies in white suit which I believed are medic. They also do something that all video games Non-Playing-Character do, walking back and forth in straight line, it turns out that not all white suit enemies are medics.

In the last of the terrorist-like mission, which is somewhat harder because enemies are almost everywhere, my original intention was to quickly finish the mission and just sneak-and-bomb, but it’s not as straightforward after I accidentally alerts the enemies and found out that there are women among them. Needless to say, and eager to have a woman in my team, I mess up again and it’s not easy to drag a passed out woman in the open to a truck.

These missions thought me something about avoiding fires after being detected by the enemies. There are holes on the walls of buildings in the game and if you crawl deep enough, there is no way to get shot and what’s more, you can shoot from inside and watch as the hapless soldiers dropping one by one. Which bring me to the question, why can’t they just throw a bomb or lay low and shoot at me?
