MGS PO: Portable Blog #06

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops: Portable Blog

Another thing that is really cool about Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is the amount of side missions you can take on and their short gameplay that a handheld needs. That’s what I did on my most recent shopping trip, although the game is a bit too dark to play in a mall, it still provides plenty of entertainment while waiting for my wife to check out her cloths.

Looking for the M1911A1 at the Communication Base is the first task I took up, and it took what must be hours for me to locate it. What happened was without the “X” mark that normally indicate where is my mission objective, I thought I must locate the weapon by searching every corners in the map. It turns out that the green dots on the maps are the indications, the weapon that I am looking for is at one of the green dots, stupid eh?

That “discovery” really helps, as I finish the second side mission in a personal record time. That’s because the M63 that I must find is at the green dot right beside my truck in the Harbor map.

The next mission I thought was important is to rescue a prisoner in the Soviet Patrol Base, which again is made easy by the tips on the mission map. Because he might be of great help to my rather slow Medic team, which just can’t produce enough rations for the group. It was a bit of a disappointment when I actually found the guy and his stats isn’t that special to have Snake risking his life rescuing him. For those of you who get stuck here, the prisoner’s locations isn’t indicated on the map at first, but if you change the floor on the map (pressing the triangle button) you will see him locked at a lower floor.
