MHP 2nd: Portable Blog #003

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd: Portable Blog

I have cleared the “Beginner Training” of the game and the earlier quests. The Beginner Training is not a requirement and the village elder will release the one star quests for you after you pay a visit to the “Training School”. But the missions are too easy and to a certain extend, boring, especially owners of MHP but it is useful if you want to earn some gold and items (plenty of honeys for those life-saving potions).

Back to the village itself, other new additions include shortcuts to other part of the village, if you are in the kitchen, you can choose to go straight to the training or farm area, useful for this greatly expanded hunting base. And everything seems to be expanded in the game, you’ll have 4 pages of slots now in your items box, and these boxes can be found in the farm and kitchen as well. I can go on and talk no end about what’s new in the game, but in short, the ratio between old and new features are almost equal here, so if you own MHP and think that it may not worth it to buy MHP2nd, for me it’s just not true.

On to the quests, since it’s early, they are really easy and littered with items. Items are really hard to come by in MHP and that probably make lots of people stay away from the game, it put a brake to the gameplay really. However that seems to changed here as not only they are everywhere, you can easily expand your farm when it used to takes lots of buying and selling in the previous game to do just that.

I met the star monster of the cover art in the fourth quest. It’s not as fierce looking as one of those tough guys in MHP but I am not sure how it fights yet as my armor and weapon are just too weak to even run away from him. But fighting this monster alone on the snowy hills doesn’t looks good.
