Monster Hunter Invades Tokyo

That was the Monster Hunter crowd at Tokyo Big Sight yesterday, the second stop of Monster Hunter Festa ‘08. Famitsu vice editor Otsuka Hideyuki, who has been blogging non-stop about Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (MHP 2ndG) since its launch, estimates that more than 8,000 hunters took part in this event.

Like the Fukuoka event few days ago, “The Monster Hunter Four”, a term given to producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and three other developers behind the series, was there to greet the hunter. So does the 30kg Rathalos Armor. The four later demoed a quest in the Jyukai map to fight the fearful looking Narugakuruga. More pictures after the jump.

“The Monster Hunter Four” show hunters how it should be done.

Tsujimoto, director Yasunori Ichinose, planner Shintaro Kojima and series world view supervisor Kaname Fujioka.

Fujioka dress himself in long white robe to explain the habitat of Monster Hunter.

The battle for Tokyo’s best hunters ensues, and a team calling themselves “Smart Brain” managed to beat Narugakuruga in 4.02 minutes to take the first place. Their winning effort can be viewed here.

The TV commercial for MHP 2ndG has been credited for the game’s success.
