Patapon 2 Updates With New Screens

Patapon 2 Donchaka♪

Coming out next month with a special edition PSP (officially called Winter Gift Pack), Patapon 2 Donchaka♪’s official Japanese site is launched and here’s a chance to see what’s new in one of the most creative rhythm game around. In short, the game will has new rhythms, new Patapons, double amount of levels & items and support for 4-player co-op. More screens and details after the jump.

Story

Patapon 2 Donchaka♪

Patapon 2 Donchaka♪ takes place right after the original game. After the war against Zigaton, the Patapon build a ship to cross the sea and look for the end of the world. However, and as always, the ship sank under attack from some unknown enemies and the Patapons were separated from each other.

New Patapons

Patapon 2 Donchaka♪

Up to 16 Patapons were added, and they all have three stages of growth. Aerial, Magic and Robot Patapons were shown above.

Hero Patapon

A new fourth unit army is added. Hero Patapon is a special type of Patapon that players can customize their armors, ability upgrades and job switch. It can even unleash a special move when entering Fever mode.

Egg Collection

When in single player mode, players can collect eggs as special items. There are around 30 types of eggs with different levels of rarity in the game. These eggs can then be used for the brand new multiplayer mode.

New Content

As mentioned earlier, the content of the game is doubled of the first game. There will be more than 60 levels (up from 37), 384 items (up from 187), 22 characters (up from 11) and 7 mini games (up from 5). It will takes around 20 hours to finish the game, the first one takes 10 hours according to the source article.

Multiplayer

There are Mission and Carnival mode in the multiplayer section. The former requires players and their partners helping out each other to move a giant egg to a certain spot. Success will takes you to Carnival mode, a mini game in which players input buttons to match the on-screen commands.

Gameplay Updates

It is now easier to enter Fever Mode, which now triggers Hero Mode. Two new types of rhythms are being added. Last but not least, save data from the previous game can be used to continue Patapon 2. Among the stuff being carried over are name, gold, special items and the medals you earn. The game also support Game Sharing.
