Persona 3 Portable Debut Trailer & Screens

Though always uncomfortable to look at, those scenes of students firing gun shots at their head in Persona 3 are one of the most memorable moment in gaming for me. And as the stunning opening movie (theme song by Shūhei Kita, who also performed the opening song of Persona: Trinity Soul) above shows, we can now experience the game on the go. Persona 3 Portable will be out in Japan this November 1st, together with the launch of PSP Go in the country. has also published part of their mag article online with a few screens. Check them out after the jump.

Select Between Male & Female Main Characters

Persona 3 Portable

Perhaps one of the biggest change is the ability to start the game with either the male or female character, and both will give you different view of the story. Selecting a female character will also give you a slightly different menu and background. Famitsu also mentions there will be graphics update in certain parts of the game and new BGM.

“Beginner” and “Maniacs” are the two new difficulty settings being added.

Improved Movements

Moving around the game world is made easier as you can now bring up a menu and click on the locations you wish to go easily. This should improve the tempo of game significantly.

Issue Command Directly

Persona 3 Portable

There’s a new option to put some of your party members for “Direct Command”.

Mysterious New Character In Velvet Room

A new male character is being teased for the new scenarios of the female character. He appears to spot the same outfit as Elizabeth in the male character scenarios.

You forgot to mention that Social Links parts are not conveyed in 3D graphics anymore, they’re more like a visual novel now.

The overworld graphics are completely different as well.

“You can now move anywhere you want in the game with a click of a button from the menu, which should improve the tempo of game significantly.”

Could you elaborate? It seemed like this way of navigating is the only way in P3, or can you move freely too?

    I rephrase the sentence a little, I hope it’s clearer now :)

    @MrOutside:

Apparently so. Great, as that is the very reason why i stopped playing Phantasy Star Portable.. Navigation, ugh.. . Still, i suppose it’s worth a try, despite the fact that we can’t “roam” anymore.

From what I seen, it is the same as “roaming” to me. Then again, I haven’t play the game nor seen enough videos to really be convinced. But either way, I won’t be distracted nor take as long as I do in the console version. Also, I read that the Answer won’t be in it. Well that part is a rumor.

Whoops. I take that back on the roaming part. There is no longer roaming after all. But still, I won’t be bothered with it anymore. Now I don’t have to worry about “wonder aimlessly” trying to find where I wanted to go at school >.>
