Phantasy Star Portable Looks Promising

Phantasy Star Portable

With Phantasy Star Portable (PSP), Sega is definitely looking at fans of the series and those of Monster Hunter Portable series (like me) as potential buyers. And given that we’ve been fighting the same monsters on the same few maps for more than two years now, most of us are certainly looking forward to take the fight into the outer space. Another advantage that I think it has is story, while Monster Hunter Portable is addictive and its story is about a hunter’s life but sometimes I do wish to see something more dramatic. With that, I think PSP the game do have a very good chance of succeeding in terms of sales in Japan.

A further look into the newly refreshed official website has just increased my interest considerably of the game, which will fills in the blank of the period between Phantasy Star Universe and Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus. The story begins when the main character was sent to investigate a terrorist attack with a new android named Vivienne. The pair would later face off with Helga Neumann, a mysterious woman, and found out the true danger their Grale Star System is facing.

Events in the story will take player the Guardian Colony and three other planets, home to the four races of the game. Players will eventually meet up with lots of characters, only two were introduced on the website so far.

The game breaks into Story and Multi modes. There will be multiple ending in Story modes depending on choices players made during the game. The cast for voice overs are promised to be huge and the game is loaded with event scenes. Like Monster Hunter Portable series, the game allows for maximum of four player communication play via the ad-hoc mode. Characters and their levels from the Story mode can be used for Multi mode and items dropped by monsters are shared among the players, these items can be carried over to the Story mode as well.

Phantasy Star Portable

If you have played Phantasy Star Universe or Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus on the PS2 or PC before, it’s even better! You can import your characters through PSP’s Infrastructure mode for use in Phantasy Star Portable, see what can or can’t be imported here. There will be a special mission that will interconnect PSP an Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus on launch as well.

More minor details can be found at the official website. Phantasy Star Portable is out this July 31st in Japan, and PSPFanboy says an English release is inevitable.
