This Week’s Famitsu: Kenka Banchou 4 & Disgaea 2

Spike has a 2-page ad in the upcoming issue of Weekly Famitsu announcing the sequels of Kenka Banchou 3: Zenkoku Seiha and Way of the Samurai 3, most probably for PSP and PS3 respectively. Kenka Banchou 3, the game where 47 gang leaders from various districts in Japan conveniently gathered in Kyoto to fight with our laser beaming hero, just came out few weeks ago so I’m quite surprise that Spike announce this so soon. But with the game selling more than 80,000 copies so far, it’s probably a good idea to do a quick follow-up while everyone still busy in their gang fights.
PS3’s Way of the Samurai 3 on the other hand, was released earlier last month and did more than 100,000 copies in the country. The sequel announcement means a Way of The Samurai 2 port is probably on its way to the PSP too, just like Way of The Samurai Portable did when 3 was announced. Personally, I would prefer an original entry in the series, possibly a side story of 3.
Makai Senki Disgaea 2 Portable, which was ‘announced‘ by GameWave and ‘confirmed‘ by Amazon Japan late last week, also featured in the magazine. Like the first game’s port to PSP, there will be quite a few additions and enhancements, namely new characters, refined game system, new skills and new magics. Also, there appears to be a new story featuring Akutare (aka Axel). I haven’t play Disgaea 2 before, so am pretty happy with this.
