Acquire’s old school RPG Ken To Mahou To Gakuen Mono (Totomono in short) sold 17,000 copies on its first day according to Sinobi, the retailer blog also reports that the game sold 70% of its initial shipment. Acquire’s PSP efforts have so far been impressive, its last PSP game Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida sold around 28,000 copies in the first week (Totomono was developed by Zerodiv with Acquire the publisher).

The Weekly Famitsu review crews didn’t quite like the game though, with only 6,7,6,5 or 24/40 given, the major complaints being the lack of clear explanation on the game’s system and the randomly generated stages all looked more or less the same. Also mentioned is the game looks too similar with Wizardry XTH2. The few good points are the fact that it can be fun once players get the hang of it and comic artist Mr Uji’s excellent character design.

Back to yesterday’s new releases, the other new PSP games didn’t do well though, Fonfun’s World Neverland Olerud Okoku Monogatari & Pluto Kyouwakoku Monogatari 2 in 1 Portable (4,000) and Koei’s Winning Post 6 2008 (3,000) both start lowly. Tales of Symphonia: Knight of Ratatosk (Wii) and Derby Stallion DS (NDS) are the big starter with 120,000 each.
