Unofficial: Crisis Core Sold 350,000 First Day
The numbers are in for the games that went on sale on Thursday, with Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII the not unexpected winner. According to Sinobi, Japanese gamers snap up 350,000 copies of the game, 60,000 of those the special PSP Slim & Lite bundle. Making it the second best first day result for a PSP game since Monster Hunter Portable 2nd, which managed to shift 510,000 copies when it was out last February (which is an amazing number now that I see Crisis Core’s number). Sinobi noted that this is the best number for the Final Fantasy series on handhelds, Square another recent FF release was Crystal Chronicles Ring of Fates for the DS, which sold 200,000 copies on it’s first week.
At least 1000 copies of those special bundles (picture left) that even Tetsuya Nomura himself was having troubles getting went to “dreamsitejp”, a Yahoo Auction user whose starting price for each unit is… 7,777 Yen.
Another high profile game released that day was Pokémon Mystery Dungeon for Nintendo DS, which sold 250,000 copies. PSP other hot release was Capcom’s fighting game Fate/Tiger Colosseum, which managed around 40,000, not a bad result for a PSP game in any other day, even outdoing Sony very own Wild Arms XF (38,000 copies first week).
